Buying a Small Pet
Getting a new pet is a decision that shouldn’t be taken lightly and small animals have their own needs. Growing up with pets teaches children responsibility, but often care of the pet falls to the parents, especially after the novelty wears off. If however, you feel your family is ready to add a furry little friend to the crew, here are some tips for getting started.

Once you’ve purchased all of your supplies and have your new friend settled in, develop a routine for the following:
- Provide fresh food and water daily
- Take your pet out of the cage to bond with you, daily
- Remove dirty litter every couple of days
- Help your pet to stay well-groomed with a weekly light brushing
- Empty the cage completely every week and wash and clean it
- Be sure to replenish treats every now and then and buy some new toys to keep your pet enriched.
